Assistant Needed

Wallenberg Real Estate has an opening for a real estate assistant to join the team at the Newport branch. A real-estate license is not required, as this position does not involve advising clients or negotiating terms. The job consists of setting up for open houses, posting new listings on our Web site, and gathering data about homes and land rights from governmental databases and public records. This position is part-time only, and the successful candidate will be able to set his or her own hours. Please send résumés to Alice Prescott at a.prescott@wallenbergre.com.

Dear Ms. Prescott,

I am interested in the real estate assistant position that was recently posted in the Classified Ads section of the Newport Herald. Although I have never worked for a real estate firm, I spent three years as a receptionist at the office of Linden Insurance, so I am used to administrative duties. I was particularly attracted to the job at Wallenberg because I am taking classes at the Montford Institute part-time, so the working conditions are perfect for me.

I am a hard worker, and I am able to learn new tasks quickly. Attached you will find my current résumé along with an extra file detailing the software programs in which I am proficient. Because of these skills, I believe I would require very little training to get started. I hope we can meet in person to discuss the position further, as I am considering real estate for my future long-term career.

Sincerely,

Candace Steiner

Subject: Open position for real estate assistant

Good morning,

Thank you all for taking the time to sit in on the interviews this week. Since we didn't get the chance to make a final decision about the job candidates, I thought we could do it by e-mail. I believe that Ms. Steiner would be the best person for this position, so I think we should make her a job offer. I thought she was friendly and easygoing in the interview. Most importantly, the information she organized in her supplemental file is exactly what we need to avoid having to do a lot of training. Please let me know what you think!

Thanks!

Alice Prescott
